SABIC-Corporate Research And Innovation Center-(kaust-jeddah)

SAUDI BASIC INDUSTRIES CORPORATION referred to as SABIC has given a comment to establish a corporate research and innovation center at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology also known as KAUST to leverage the strong scientific network, talents and state of the art core labs being developed and accumulated at the university.

In light of the above, SABIC has leased an existing building in KAUST Innovation Cluster building in order to establish the 1st phase of the research center project. The building is a four story building with a total build up area of about 12,000 sqm.

The building will accommodate about 100 people, including engineers, researchers, and technicians. The ground, first and second floor has been designed originally as laboratory were SABIC has a new design alternations to accommodate staff offices and general facilities such as storages, conference room, prayer room…etc. The third floor has the mechanical equipment’s and will be a central storage for the laboratory gases.

Our delivery of the center included provision of atrium, offices, laboratories, building management system and research rooms, conference facilities, prayer room, video conference room, nitrogen tank installation and a cafeteria. We also provided landscaping inside and outside the center.

Challenges

1. Site is set with a confined live university campus at Thuwal Jeddah.
2. High Levels of security protocols.
